Florida fossil hunting is a great hobby for individuals and families. My sons’ and I really enjoy the hunting. To us, finding a fossil is like finding gold!! Plus, it gets the kids outside doing something as a family.

Space is the Final Frontier

Posted in Florida Books, Uncategorized by Administrator on the January 26th, 2010

As a Florida native, talks of space and the exploration of space were often the topic around our dinner table. Having the Kennedy Space Center 30 minutes away was exciting. I will never forget when one of the first Space Shuttle missions launched. They didn’t have water in the pit under the Shuttle and the sound waves produced by the rockets were not absorbed. Windows for miles around were cracked or blown out. Our dining room table was shaking enough for the glasses of iced tea to dance all over it. We thought it was an earthquake!

I can remember many nights staring up at the night sky just being amazed at how much is out there that we don’t know about. Even today thinking about the vastness of the universe and how we are just one little planet amongst millions in our galaxy and how our galaxy is just one of billions of other galaxies in the universe, boggles my mind. Being a fan of space exploration, I believe that the space program needs to continue. As humans, we need to constantly be reaching for the unknown. We are where we are today because of our ancestors searching for unknown truths and this way of thinking simply must continue. As the last Space Shuttle mission quickly approaches, I pray that NASA and the Kennedy Space Center keep their Florida based facility. I want my children to continue growing up with the imagination and dreams that the space program provides us all.

Great Books on Florida

Posted in Florida Books by Administrator on the October 21st, 2009

Do you live in Florida? If yes, than you are accustomed to the drastic changes in weather. Currently, we are experiencing what I refer to as “non-Florida” weather. It is beautiful, cool, crisp and only 75 degrees outside. Tomorrow…..95 is the expected temperature. Florida is a unique state that has it’s own quirks, and if you like to explore unknown areas, than I invite you to learn more about my great state of Florida.

Explore the Everglades and learn about the alligators that hunt the area. Swim through our books that show case the abundance of fish that are native to Florida, and while you are there kick back and learn about the beautiful coral reefs our great state has to offer. Climb to the top of some of the greatest Light Houses around. Or, you can always just sit back and enjoy a nice Florida lobster dinner while watching the beautiful sunset on the West Coast. Visit our section on Florida books, and see what you are missing.
